Its always exciting to spot a black grouse as they are quite rare.\u00a0 They are usually in a group and this one was with two others.\u00a0 I was lucky that it stayed still long enough get a photo.\u00a0 Sometimes they come into the meadow fields but their natural habit is out on the moors.<\/h3>\n

We know of several areas on the moor where they return to every year to lek.\u00a0 Lekking is when the males display their white tail feathers into a fan and call and strut to atract a female.\u00a0 The black grouse is one of only 3 breeds of British birds that exhibit lekking behaviour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
