Birkdale Tarn – a hidden gem – less than half a mile from Pry House Farm.  Birkdale Tarn is a man-made lake created during the 1800s for the lead mining industry.  Now it is the most peaceful place, secluded and rarely visited – a genuine corner of secret Britain.  It is a haven of wildlife and paradise for anyone interested in bird watching.
