Wildlife to watch out for in Upper Swaledale

Sandpiper

Its always a sense of achievement to capture on camera another species of moorland bird. Upper Swaledale is the perfect location for bird watching. The peaceful, open landscape of Upper Swaledale provides many opportunities to spot, observe and photograph wild animals and birds. This sandpiper was close to the moor by Birkdale Beck. Sandpipers are easily recognisable by their half collar of sandy streaked plumage and snowy white feathers below. They bob incessantly and have a distinctive high pitched song.
