Pet Lamb

Three pet lambs to look after and love. Meet the 3 Musketeers!

Lambing time is over and we are left with three pet lambs to hand rear.  I call them the 3 Musketeers.

By the end of June the weather was good enough to put the 3 Musketeers in the small field next to the house that we call the garth.  The garth is secure and has a little building where the lambs can shelter and feed.  For several weeks, in addition to lamb pellets, they were fed a bottle of milk.  Three bottles, only two hands and three strong lambs makes for a difficult feeding time.  I was grateful to enlist the help of B&B and Shepherd Hut guests!  The Shepherds Hut looks onto the garth providing endless hours of lamb watching entertainment.

Now the time has come to wean the lambs off the bottle.  They graze the field, drink water from a bucket and nibble the lamb pellets.  My job is almost done but like all hand reared lambs they will always be more friendly and pushy than naturally reared lambs.
